We offer a variety of parent workshops that are designed with one objective in mind...for you, as parents, to have a greater understanding of how your child develops. As a parent you are continuously bombarded with lots of 'rights' and 'wrongs', and the goal posts are constantly changing on everything from weaning, naughty steps, what food is good, what food is bad, controlled crying...the list goes on. The one thing that is constant is how children develop.
By understanding key factors of your child's development you are able to connect and respond in a way that has the potential to make a huge difference for your child in the now, but also for the future. I talk as an Early Years Practitioner but more importantly as a parent. I use these strategies with my own children, and the knowledge I can pass on is relevant from birth to teens.
Understanding the vital importance and significance of the 3 prime areas of development means we approach situations in a very different way. As a parent and as a professional. We also answer your questions on the education system your child is entering into and how you can best support them at home through this transition.
We currently offer workshops and talks on the three prime areas of development, our most popular being,
'Understanding Your Child's Emotions and How They Drive Behaviour - a Guide to Emotional Literacy', this can be aimed at parents of younger or older children.
Other examples of available workshops are:
- Active Listening - The power of active listening to your teens & how it maintains relationships.
- Communication and Language - Supporting your baby & toddler and when to seek intervention.
- School Ready - What is 'school ready' and practical strategies to help.
- Physical Development - The importance of physical risk, resilience & development and how it supports children's writing skills
If there is a specific area or subject you and a group wish to know more about please do get in touch and find out if it is something we are able to deliver. The sessions are approximately 1 and a half hours in length but can be longer depending on engagement and discussion.
We can adapt our workshops to be run in any environment from a school hall, conference room or to a smaller group of parents in a home. They are fun, motivational presentations with lots of opportunity to share and discuss, learn strategies and view resources that will help you on your parental path.
We believe passionately that 'good parent' 'bad parent' labels are unhelpful, we are all both of those things at times. Sometimes all we need is a little insight into our children's brains to help us be the best we can today; and that is something we can strive for together.
